I just launched a set of discussion forums.
A blog works great as long as I am the main person posting on the website. It also works best when each blog entry stands on its own.
The limitations of a blog became very apparent when I started the Kilo3D and Pickerel construction articles. I needed to have a definitive place where the final designs can live and you can ask questions and share your design enhancements.
Lots of Emails
I have been getting a lot of emails from you, which is just great. But almost always I wish the email discussions were public so others can participate and benefit from the insights gained.
I resisted the idea at first, but it is now clear to me that a well-managed discussion forum can be a great complement to a blog. So here it is!
Next Generation Forum
The forum software that I am using is a little different from the usual found on many websites. It is designed to be very flexible and very easy to navigate. I have only been playing with it for a short while, but I already like it a lot.
Single Sign On
The forum is closely tied to the blog software. It uses the same registration system as that used for leaving comments on the blog and gaining full access to the calculator. This is a neat trick, but in all my testing it always worked beautifully.
The forum is open for business, so feel free to dive in. The categories are pretty self-explanatory, but if you have any questions feel free to email me. Even better, post them in the questions category of the forum!
