I test about 20 different glues on foam. I got a few surprises. Check out my video.
It rained lightly during the entire glue drying period, making this more of a torture test. I was disappointed with the results from more than one glue. Yeah, I also had a very unexpected spectacular failure.
The video is about 50 minutes long. Sorry about the length. There were just a lot of glues that I wanted to test. I talk about gluing foam in general, not just about the test results.
To see my recommendations, you can just watch the last five minutes. I also summarized my recommendations in a follow-up article.

for xps type or epp have you tested foam-tac by beacons, suppose to work on any foam after prepping. a couple of years ago i chased after the elusive “perfect 1″ glue to no avail. i do remember seeing in a box just the other day, the little tube you showed at the end. the name wasn’t exactly the same as “perfect glue #1″ so i never tried it after buying.hopefully i can find it. i find that for me nothing beats uhu por, when used as a contact type cement on any type of xps or epp & xps mixed. if just using epp i will use “quik grip” by beacons over welders. stick together and pull apart 3 or 4 times in a sixty second time frame and you can be flying 30 minutes later. $2.99 a tube at walmart, more at the big craft stores. thanks for the heads up on “pg #1″
thanks again,

Foam-Tac was on my list of glues to test. I drove all over town looking for it and could not find it.
Yes, the disappearance of Perfect Glue #1 a couple of years ago was very distressing to me, too. Now they just call it “Perfect Glue”. It is a slightly improved version. It used to be a light amber color. The new version is clear. Cost is about the same. I paid about $4 for my tube.
I also went looking for UHU Por but could not find it. It is also sold under the name UHU Creativ. I have never used it, so I cannot comment on it.
I have seen the Beacon Quik Grip at stores, but have not tried it. I am not a big fan of EPP because of the lack of structural strength.
I try hard to buy my supplies locally. Walmart pricing is very hard to beat, even if I have to pay sales tax. Paying for shipping and then waiting a week or two is usually a deal killer for me. Same problem goes for mail order foam.
The Medipore H that I got was from mail order. I got two nice-sized rolls and they cost less than $10, shipping included.
You never tried Gorilla glue on foam? My favorite——-rick
I had two bottles of Gorilla Glue, but they had dried out. For the test in the video, I used a different brand. The behavior was the same as Gorilla Glue. Lots of foaming, which made creating accurate glue joints impossible. They also made my work look very sloppy.
Try using my recommended glues. You might like them much better.
